Privacy Policy Details

Who we are

FundingDependency.com is an educational website published by George A. Mellendorf. It explains the ten common ways families fund long-term care in the United States. It is not a law firm, insurance agency, or financial institution, and nothing on this site is legal, financial, or medical advice. This policy explains how information is handled when you visit fundingdependency.com.

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways, depending on how you use the site:

  • Automatically, via analytics. This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which pages are useful and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect standard usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location (city/region level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site (for example, from a search engine). We have not enabled any advertising or remarketing features in Google Analytics, and we do not use this data to identify you personally.
  • The Journey Assessment. Your answers to the Journey Assessment are processed in your browser and stay on your device while you take it. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose, at the end, to download your report or request a follow-up call — in which case only the information you actively submit (see below) is transmitted.
  • Information you provide directly. If you use the contact form or otherwise reach out (email, phone, or a scheduled call), we receive whatever you choose to share, typically your name, email address, phone number, and the message or questions you write.

How we use this information

  • To respond to messages sent through the contact form or by email/phone.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which pages and topics are most helpful to visitors, so we can improve the content.
  • To maintain the security and normal technical operation of the site.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use information submitted through the contact form for marketing to third parties.

Cookies and third-party services

The only third-party service currently in use is Google Analytics, which sets cookies in your browser to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting data about your visit by using your browser's cookie controls, a browser extension such as Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by enabling "Do Not Track" / equivalent privacy settings where supported. Blocking cookies will not affect your ability to read the site or take the Journey Assessment.

Data retention

Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings. Messages submitted through the contact form or sent by email are kept only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your choices

  • You can browse every page on this site, including the Journey Assessment, without providing any personal information.
  • You can opt out of analytics tracking using the browser controls described above.
  • You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, by reaching out through the contact page. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for adults planning long-term care for themselves or a family member. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and we take reasonable technical measures to protect any information submitted to us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
