Arizona Home Care Medicaid
ALTCS can deliver covered long-term services in a member's home or community setting after the same medical and financial eligibility framework.
ALTCS can support care at home
Arizona’s ALTCS program is not only a nursing-facility benefit. AHCCCS states that ALTCS services may be provided in an institution or in a home and community-based setting, and that many members live in their own homes or assisted-living facilities while receiving needed in-home services (AHCCCS ALTCS overview). This is the primary Arizona program to examine when a person needs ongoing paid help but wants to remain outside a nursing facility.
AHCCCS describes direct-care services as attendant care, personal care, and homemaker services for ALTCS members who need assistance to meet their needs and remain in their own homes (AHCCCS ALTCS overview). The page also describes the Home and Community Based Services Needs Tool as a standardized assessment used to evaluate functional and support needs, including activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living, for members who may benefit from certain HCBS (AHCCCS ALTCS overview).
